The University of Melbourne Archives collects, manages and provides access to the historical records of the University, Victorian business, trade unions and other labour organisations, community and cultural organisations, as well as the personal papers of many individuals prominent within them.
Records date from the first years of the colony of Victoria until the present day and cover a very wide field of endeavour. The Archives were established in 1960 and to date hold some 15 kilometres of records. They are available for research use and may be used in the Cultural Collections Reading Room (floor plan) on the 3rd floor of the Baillieu Library.
To discover the organisation and people whose records are held and the type of material they contain browse the various options under ‘Collections’ or search the ‘Collections Database’.
