UMA holds a number of collections which document the real estate industry both within Melbourne and the surrounding greater Melbourne area from the 1860s through to the 1960s. Primarily the records of estate agents operating during this period, these collections give an insight into this industry and the important role that it played in the development of Melbourne. Many include subdivision maps, sales brochures and newspaper clippings which document the growth of Melbourne and its suburbs as well as recording valuable information on many of the city's houses and buildings of business and industry.
