In the Black Books, white gummed paper tape is used to bind black pages together and at the same time, provide a kind of text. Sometimes the tape/text is continuous, sometimes discontinuous, depending on whether the book as a whole is considered, or just each doublepage spread. The Cut Books provide instantly perceived images of the sequential time buried in books by exposing the layers of paper and print in surprising ways.
