Going International

Does it matter at all that Australia-based China scholars and postgraduates are located on the periphery of the Western study of China? Are there any particularities about doing research in Australia (or Melbourne) as opposed to doing it in the US or Europe? How can we ensure that our voice is heard internationally? How can Australian-trained researchers 'break in' to scholarly networks in the United States? The aim of this presentation is to raise these as issues for discussion and share experiences of 'going international'. The focus will be mainly on scholarly circles in the United States and China.

4:30 – 5:30
