Romanisation Systems for CJK language materials

(1) The following romanisation systems are adopted for CJK langauge materials

  • Hepburn for Japanese materials
  • McCune-Reichauer for Korean materials
  • Pinyin for Chinese materials

(2) Pinyin Romanisation rules

Adopts Library of Congress " Chinese romanization guidelines".

Access

To view CJK script, change your browser's encoding to Unicode (UTF-8).

The CJK bibliographic database

    • Chinese language materials in INNOPAC adopt Pinyin romanisation. Japanese Lanugage materials adopt Hepburn System.
    • 70% of the CJK bibliographic records contains CJK characters. It is recommended to use romanised form for catalog searches.
    • EA staffuse materials and Chinese language materials which are stored at Lincoln Store are not at INNOPAC. Please check the East Asian Collection card catalogue in Wade-Giles Romanisation for bibliographic details.  (Romanization Chart for Chinese Conversion from Pinyin to Wade-Giles System )
    • Western language materials translated from Chinese catalogued before 2000 may still adopt Wade-Giles Romanisation.

1. Export : The " Export" function allows you to mark records for saving. The " Export Saved List" function allows you to save marked records onto disk or e-mail the list to your email address. Export formats include Full Display, Brief display, Pro-Cite , End-note, MARC..
2. Limit search: If you find more than 50 records when you search the library catalogue it is probably not a good search. You may need to refine the search using operators. The "limit" function allows you to limit search results by Monograph/Serial, YEAR of publication, MATERRIAL type, LANGUAGE, PUBLISHER, WHERE Item is located, COUNTRY of publication.
