Fines and Penalties

Fines apply to all library materials that are returned late. The rate of fines varies according to the loan period of the items concerned - shorter loan periods attract fines at a faster rate, as the items are in heavier demand.

Your borrowing privileges are suspended while you have overdue material.

Fines are not payable until the total owed on your record reaches or exceeds $15.00. Once $15.00 is reached, all fine amounts accrued are payable. Once paid, and your record cleared, the library will offer you another $15 credit. The rolling credit is offered as a goodwill gesture, and should assist those who do not consistently return items late.

Please note that at the Burnley Library we only have the facilities to accept fine payment via cash or cheque.
