Reserve Collection

Items in the reserve collections are those that lecturers and tutors consider to be in high demand. On the library catalogue choose R > RESERVE lists from the main menu, then enter your course title, course code or lecturer name to see a list of materials. Location and availability information will be displayed. Borrowing is restricted to staff and students of the University of Melbourne. See Borrowing Table for list of those eligible to borrow books on reserve.

Material in this collection is identifiable on the Library catalogue by the location code "UniM Earth Sci Res"

Open Access	Enabling users to search for specific high use items, or browse the shelves. Reserve items can be used in the library foyer and/or photocopied without being borrowed but should be borrowed at the loans desk before being taken into the library.
Borrowing	Reserve items can be borrowed for 2 hours during the day. After 4pm, reserve items can be borrowed overnight but must be returned by 10am the next day. If the item is borrowed after 4pm on Friday, it should be returned 10am Monday morning. Reserve Items may also be booked to be borrowed on overnight loan, just ask Library Staff. There is a borrowing limit of 2 reserve items.
Returning	All reserve books should be returned to the Library desk so that they can be checked in without delay. If returning an overnight loan before the library is open, the item can be returned via the Return Chute and library staff will check it in as soon as the library opens.
Renewing	Reserve items can not be renewed and must be returned by the due date and time.
Photocopying	Photocopy facilities are available within the Library Foyer.
Fines	Fines and Penalties apply to reserve books kept overdue.

Study desks are not available within the Library Foyer. Users are encouraged to photocopy or borrow required material.

Information For Academic Staff

Course Co-ordinators should send details of prescribed texts and recommended reading lists to the Earth Sciences Library at least one month before they will be needed by students. The following information should be included:

Type of Loan Restriction (2 hour loan - item is placed on Reserve or 7 day loan - item is available in the general collection.)
