The Magdalene Vinnen

The Magdalene Vinnen

Of Bremen, Auxiliary Vessel built by Krupps, of Kiel, 1921

At present the largest sailing vessel afloat of a tonnage of 5496 tons. She is fitted with submarine signalling gear and has a Krupp Diesel 4-cylinder engine of 128 N.H.P., which is extremely useful in calms or for entering and leaving port. The picture shows her leaving Sydney in 1932, homeward bound, with every stitch of canvas set with the exception of the fore Royal, which is being sheeted home. Still in the grain trade, she carries a large number of German boys training for the Mercantile Marine.

Unknown publication, 1930s
