Text of Poem

While the tinker tinkered with the pot
I was thinking of him quite a lot
And what I though was simply this:
how very nice this tinker is -
his eyes were blue
his hair like gold,
and he was young,
but I was old,
and when my thinking-time was nearly done
his tinkering had only just begun.

Ella Grainger (1889-1979)
