DVD - UniM ERC DVD

DVD stands for Digital Versatile Disc and delivers high quality digital video and audio as well as providing extremely useful additional functionality that the videocassette is unable to match. DVDs provide access to program segments via a menu structure and can contain multiple audio tracks, subtitles and commentaries. The advantages and characteristics of DVD make this technology extremely useful in the study and teaching of many University subjects that traditionally use video and audio materials.

There are eight DVD regions (or zones) throughout the world. The DVDs held in Media Collections are for various regions. The region is indicated on the call number of each DVD, with the exception of Region 4 DVDs, which are the Australian standard.

For example:

UniM ERC DVD
791.4372 BODY
Region 1
Is playable only on multi-zone DVD players like those in our Viewing Rooms and Media Carrels.
UniM ERC DVD
791.4372 WILD
Where the region is not indicated the DVD is for Region 4 - The Australian standard.
