Music Classification & Arrangement
The Music Library owns a large collection of music scores and performance material for individual instruments and ensemble use. Classification and shelving arrangement is unique to this library. Use the library catalogue to locate music scores from both the Louise Hanson-Dyer Music library and the Lenton Parr Library of the Victorian College of the Arts. Scores are arranged in categories according to instrument or form of composition. Each instrument or form is given a different letter(s) which forms part of the score's call number. Within each section, all scores are arranged in ALPHABETICAL order by COMPOSER NAME. For example:

"The University of North Texas Music Library's Jean-Baptiste Lully Collection includes almost 30 rare 17th- and 18th-century scores of operas and ballets by the 17th-century French composer Jean-Baptiste Lully and his sons. Many of the volumes are 1st editions printed by Christophe Ballard, who held the privelège for music printing under King Louis XIV. Several are 2nd editions, printed by Henri de Baussen or Jean-Baptiste Christophe Ballard. This archive contains several thousand sheets of music, mainly classical music, contemporary music and some jazz-tunes. A composer listing is available and there is also a Google website search fuction.
