"Marshall-Hall Orchestral Concert" Programme (1905)
Melbourne had been exposed to orchestral performances since the opera seasons from the 1860s and the great exhibitions of the 1880s, but efforts to establish continuing orchestral seasons had foundered by the time of Marshall-Hall's arrival. From 1892 to 1912 he conducted he conducted no fewer than 111 of what became known, at first casually and then officially, as the "Marshall-Hall Orchestral Concerts."
