Igor Stravinsky. Ragtime For 11 Instruments (Transcription for Piano) (1919)
Founded in Paris in 1918, principally by Jean Cocteau, Editions de la Sirène gathered a remarkable array of literary, artistic and musical talent. The firm established a reputation from the outset for publishing new music by such composers as Satie, Milhaud and Poulenc. Their most celebrated publication is Stravinsky’s piano transcription of his Ragtime – not because of the music, generally regarded as inferior to Stravinsky’s other works in ragtime style, but because of the cover illustration by Picasso.
