Hawthorn Press Collection

The Hawthorn Press was established by Jack Gartner in the 1930s and flourished until a disastrous fire closed it down in the 1970s. The Hawthorn Press played a pioneering role in publishing the works of Australian immigrant poets and specialised in local and organizational histories, poetry, war memoirs and other works of Australiana.*

The collection is comprised of some 400 volumes and contains most of the works published by the Hawthorn Press.
