J. P. De River, The Sexual Criminal
The Censorship Board gave its verdict on J. P. De River’s The Sexual Criminal in May 1950, opining that the ‘gruesome and revolting’ illustrations made it ‘inconceivable that this book should have unrestricted circulation in Australia’. The book was placed on restricted release to legal and medical practitioners and students of criminal psychology.
