The table below highlights the key features of Subject Directories-

* Other features
  • Always check the help files associated with each directory to find out how often the directory is updated, searching tips, what types of files are included (newsgroups, etc.), etc.

How to use a Subject Directory

Before you begin a search for information via one of the Search Engines, remember to:

  • List words that describe your topic
  • Read the help files for the directory to find out what features are available
  • Follow the subject category which describes your topic
  • Use search options if they are available
  • Evaluate internet resources - quality & currency
