Note that records may need editing after exporting to EndNote to suit publication requirements. For example, records from Business Source Premier and Music Index can have the journal title entered in uppercase. Retrospective Index to Music Periodicals contains a variety of reference types which can require considerable editing in EndNote.
Direct Export (Windows Internet Explorer/Firefox and Macintosh Firefox users)
- Conduct a search
- Mark required records by clicking on Add to folder located at the end of each record
- Open the folder by clicking on the Folder icon at the top right of the page
- Click the Select/deselect all box
- Click the Export icon (a white page with green arrow)
- Click Save
- *Firefox users select :
- (Windows) Open using Web Export Helper
- (Macintosh) Open using Applications > Endnote > Endnote program file. Tick the box to always use the application to open this type of file.
- Endnote should open. Locate and select your Endnote library. The results will be entered.
- Check the new records. Manual editing may be required.
Saving & Importing (Macintosh Safari users)
- Conduct a search
- Mark required records by clicking on Add to folder located at the end of each record
- Open the folder by clicking on the Folder icon at the top right of the page
- Click the Select/deselect all box
- Click the Export icon (a white page with green arrow)
- Click Save
- The file will be saved to your default Downloads folder location.
- Open your EndNote Library
- From the File menu select Import
- Click on Choose File.. and locate your saved file
- From Import Option select Reference Manager (RIS)
- The records should import into your EndNote library.
- Check the records as some may require editing.
