EndNote versions
Windows
- EndNote X5 is the recommended version at the University in 2012 and is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP operating systems.
- EndNote X3 was the recommended version at the University of Melbourne in 2010-2011 and may be found on some University computers. Files used or created with EndNote X3 can be opened and exchanged with EndNote X5.

Mac
- EndNote X5 for Mac is the recommended version at the University of Melbourne in 2012. It is compatible with Mac OS X (10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard), 10.7 (Lion)) (available from February 2012).
- EndNote X3 for Mac was the recommended version at the University of Melbourne in 2010-2011 and may be found on some University computers. It is compatible with Mac OS X (10.4 - 10.6). EndNote X3 has a Find Full Text feature. Preference setting changes are required for this function to work with University of Melbourne authentication. See the setup page for details.
- EndNote X4.0.2 for Mac is available for download. It is compatible with Word 2004 for Mac.

EndNote Web is a web-based version of EndNote with a little less functionality. You can register through ISI Web of Knowledge databases like Web of Science for an EndNote Web account.
