RegisteringBefore you can start uploading items, you need to fill out some personal details into a form found at: (http://eprints.unimelb.edu.au/) Create user recordFrom the UMER front screen, click on the Register link. Depositing RecordsClick on Registered users area. First time users need to fill out the record with name and address. Deposit TypeChoose a document type. Click 'Next' to continue. AuthorsTranscribe the name or names from the document you are loading. Capitalise first letters only. If you are entering more than one initial, please add a space between them. (Example : R. H. Smith) There should be no full stop after the family name. If there are more authors than available spaces, click on the `More Spaces' button. TitleCapitalise only the first letter of the title. Do not add a full stop as the software adds this. Include the subtitles. SubjectsThe subjects listed in the drop down box reflect the University Faculty structure. Select at least one main subject category, and optionally up to two other subject categories you think are appropriate for the document. YearEnter the year in which the document was published or produced. MonthEnter the month in which your eprint was published. If month is not noted on your eprint, choose 'Unspecified'. AbstractEnter the abstract of the document. If no abstract is supplied, create one. This is best done using the introduction and conclusion of the eprint. End the abstract with a full stop, otherwise some letters drop off at the end of the abstract. Alternative LocationsIf the document is available from other sites, please enter those URLs including the initial http://. Please give the full URL of the item itself, not just the hosting website. KeywordsEnter any specific keywords to aid searchers to find the document. Keywords can include single words and phrases. Do not capitalize the first letter in the keywords, unless the word is usually spelt with a capital. Separate keywords with a comma. Do not include a fullstop at the end. Additional InformationIf you wish to specify further useful information about the document that can't be entered elsewhere, please enter it here. Reference List (optional)Paste in the reference list of the document into the box below. Ignore oddities in spacing. It will be fixed by the software. Do not copy and paste the word "References". End with a full stop, otherwise the last character drops drop off at the end of the list. Comments and SuggestionsAny comments to the editor (this information will not be displayed to the public) can be entered here, eg. suggestions (with justification) for additional subject fields. Edit Item : Documents Attached to ItemClick 'Add a format to this eprint." Document InformationSelect the format from the list provided. Indicate a security level for the document. To restrict access, choose "Registered users only" or "Archive staff only". If you want the document to be accessible worldwide, choose "Anyone". Document File UploadThere are two options: 1. Upload a file from your pc. Click on "Browse" and select the file to upload. Once the file is selected, click on "Upload file". OR 2. Capture a file from a URL. Enter the URL of the the document you wish to upload to the archive. Click 'Upload' to continue. Edit Item : Documents Attached to ItemThis screen show a summary of the details of the document that is to be uploaded. Check that there is a fileto be uploaded and check the file format. Edit Item : VerificationCheck document details. This screen provides a metadata summary for the document. To edit the record, click the 'Previous' button that is found at the bottom of the screen. Check if the abstract displays properly and is complete. To deposit the document, click 'Deposit EPrint Now". Completed DepositThis is a confimation screen. |
