The following information for citing weblog posts has been based on the 'About citing electronic material: bulletin boards, UseNet groups and email lists' in Snooks and Co. (rev.) 2002, Style manual for authors, editors and printers, 6th edn, John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd., Milton, Qld, pp. 231.

Entry in Reference List

Author of post <Author details> Date of posting, 'Title of posting', Description of posting, Name of list owner, Date of viewing, <URL>.

For example - Reference List

MelissaAuthor of posting <melissa@unimail.com>Author's identifying details - usually an email address 2008,Date of posting 'Students' use of weblogs for research',Title of posting (within single quotation marks) weblog post, 24 January,Description of posting University of Melbourne Library,Name of list owner viewed 2 February, Date of viewing <http://www.libraryblogs.unimelb.edu.au/eresource/>.URL (within angle brackets)

For example - In text citation

Melissa (2008) states that ...
OR
... was found (Melissa 2008).

Style Notes

Use angle brackets to contain the web address to eliminate confusion with other punctuation.
Post titles are contained within single quotation marks and are not italicized. Use minimal capitalization - capitalize only the first word of the post title and any proper nouns.
There is no comma or full stop between the author and date of posting. Commas are used to separate all other elements. The reference entry finishes with a full-stop.
