Access to e-resources using Discovery

In our Libraries

Most computers require you to login with your university email username and password. Access to Discovery is available on these computers, along with access to the internet. Discovery requires further authentication with the same email username and password.

Every library has at least 1 computer that does not require you to log in to access Discovery.

Outside our libraries

Access to Discovery outside our libraries requires authentication with a current university email username and password.

If you are an alumnus of the University, you can pay $45.00 for access to selected databases and journals for 1 year.

Email accounts

University of Melbourne staff and students (including honorary and casual staff) can create an account at the accounts page.

If you are an honorary staff member you should be able to get an email account but you need to establish your honorary status. You can request faculty authorisation by using the HR4 form.

Students without a current student card would need to apply through their faculty as all student authentication is validated against ISIS. Students on leave of absence and students awaiting thesis completion still retain their email accounts.

Research assistants of academic staff can apply for access to electronic resources as a Visitor. Apply through the relevant faculty using the HR4 form.

College/Hospital librarians teaching our students or staff can request authorisation from the library. Complete an HR4 form and fax to 8344 0197 with "Attention: Lauren Kilby".
