Information on library items
Information on library items - often referred to as the "call number" - is like an address. Each item has a different "call number".
![[Parts of the call number]](/sg/images/cn.gif)
- The "Location code" represents the library branch (here it's the ERC)
- "Collection prefix" represents the collection (here it's Computer files)
- "Subject classification" (Dewey or Moys) tells you where it's shelved (here it's in the 005's)
- "Suffix" - items are shelved alphabetically within the same subject classification
